What A Difference A Year Makes!

On the last weekend in June, we celebrated our one year anniversary here at Tutu Cute Cakes! Can you believe it?! I am still mind boggled myself! I remember sitting on my couch watching "The Cake Boss" after just having our little Caiden Jace and thinking, "What can I do to stay home with this sweet baby?" I then got this wild idea to start taking some cake decorating classes at Michael's Arts & Crafts store. I can't begin to tell you how nervous I was to express my excitement to my husband because (as everyone who knows me well can testify) I tend to get really excited about something, commit to it for a few weeks or months, and then I am thinking of what I can do next.) Not this time! I went through all four classes at Michaels (with an amazing instructor named Evangeline) and before I knew it, I found an amazing confidence in myself that I didn't even know I had been lacking. Of all the crazy things I've tried, I was actually good at this! I won't lie and say this year has not been a challenge and to be honest, I'm still trying to figure out how to juggle being a stay at home mom of a sweet (but very active and curious) 17 month old as well as a very inquisitive 7 year old, Nadia, be a wife that is equal to what my amazing husband deserves, a Girl Scout leader, a dance teacher, a friend, and still check in with my family from time to time whom are all spread across the country. Whew!

I'm learning that nothing in life is perfect, nor am I though I continue to keep challenging myself and striving to go above and beyond all of my customers' expectations. In March of this year, I even got the chance to meet Buddy Valastro aka "The cake Boss" when he came to Virginia to visit. I had so many things to say but all I could manage to get out of my mouth was, "You have no idea how much you have inspired me as a mother to become a better version of myself for my children." He gave me a big Italian hug and said. "You should try out for 'The Next Great Baker' maybe I'll see you there! I can't believe in just one short year, I went from watching his show on my couch thinking "what if" to standing in front of him and having a brief conversation.  Not very many people are that lucky. Me, I'm beyond lucky, I'm blessed.

I've always believed that God has a plan for me though I could never quite figure out exactly what it was.
Now though, I think I've found it. I will continue to spread the message to not be selfish and withhold your talents and abilities. If you can't share them with the world, what a waste! My husband has even embraced his own artistic abilities and he has become a HUGE help to me at Tutu Cute Cakes with his brilliant design ideas as well as his fascinating eye for sculpting. I have come so far because of him and his support and he pushes me when I'm tired and feel like giving up sometimes. What an awesome man I married!

I would just like to thank everyone for their continued support  and the 700+ fans on Facebook that  we strive to please on a day to day basis. Thank you to everyone that has referred us to a friend or passed our business card around. All of my success is because of referrals and I couldn't be more grateful to all the great friends I have gained along the way. This has been the best year ever! Here's to many more years to come!!!
